More about me:

I’m Alex Holroyd, an independent, registered Social Worker with 16 years of experience in adult social care. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in a wide range of frontline and leadership roles. My background includes extensive practice in London, where I developed strong skills in complex casework, safeguarding, mental capacity, and service coordination. I love my job as a Social Worker, every day provides new challenges and I get to meet so many interesting individuals and their families. I have a great passion for social justice and supporting individuals with care and support needs, ensuring that their voices are heard.

I moved to Devon four years ago and have continued to work within adult social care, gaining a clear understanding of the challenges faced by people trying to access support in the South West. I’ve seen first‑hand how long waiting times, stretched services, and inconsistent assessments can leave adults and families feeling unsupported, confused, or even unsafe.

These experiences are a major part of why I chose to establish Alex Holroyd Independent Social Work. I believe adults deserve timely, high‑quality, person‑centred social work delivered with care, consistency, and professional integrity.

I am an independent member of the British Association of Social Work. I also hold Social Work England registration (SW98902) and Independent Commissioners Office registration. Importantly, I have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check in place.
